This was a special project, close to my heart. I was so glad to help Jaime out.

I met Jaime when she started dating Chad, whose family has been friends of ours since we were little. When they got engaged, she dreamed of something special for her wedding dress (as do many brides-to-be).

However this was a little different. It was important to her that her late mother’s wedding dress was incorporated some way to make her own. I could understand this wish, so her mom could be there with her materially as well as spiritually. There was some problem solving involved because the style of her mom’s dress was not something Jaime would have chosen. She brought me some pictures of styles she liked and together we came up with something that suited her while using the fabric of her mom’s dress.

I made the top of the dress from scratch, so we only used the skirt (and train) portion of her mom’s dress. I added red satin along the hem and a tiny bit at the neckline. There is also a layer of organza over the skirt to soften it up. I am very pleased with how it turned out! Jaime made a beautiful bride.
