I teach sewing to kids at the Norquay Community Centre through the Graffiti Gallery on Tuesdays. In our Sewing Club, we work on different projects every week sewing by hand and machine. They have made things like sock puppets, hats, bags, alien heads, mittens, and other things. We are currently working on an art exhibit to be held at the Graffiti Gallery, opening on February 12th from 4-6.
It’s called “Fort: kids creating and sharing space.” The kids from Norquay are decorating one side of a tent, and kids from Turtle Island are decorating the other. Inside will be strewn about with pillows and have decorations hanging from above so we can climb in and sit on the pillows. I think it will be a great way for adults to (literally) get down on the kids level and see a different perspective.
Come check it out!
