So, this fashion show is rapidly approaching and I am busily preparing my creations to display on the runway. It is all coming together…. yes, very nicely.
Just to clarify, this show will be on March 8th at the Costume Museum of Canada at 109 Pacific Ave. in Winnipeg. The doors open at 7:30 and you can get tickets for $20 at the Costume Museum. They expect to sell out, so get ‘em early! If it is inconvenient for you to get down there to buy tickets, you can call them at 989-0072 to buy them over the phone. This show will be featuring local designers and crafters displaying their wares on the runway and at craft tables, and EVERYTHING will be made in some way from second hand materials. You will see just how fashionable recycling can be.
Another thing I enjoy about this show is that because we need to get our own models together, there will be REAL people to show off my clothes, which I love. Not that professional models are not real, but their body measurements do not capture the majority of the population. This can sometimes make my clothes hard to find homes after fashion shows, and make people feel excluded. Thank you so much to my brave friends walking down the runway for me!
The clothes I am showing that evening are made from old T-shirts, ripped jeans, ill-fitting/ugly/unwearable garments (no longer!), which I have transformed into green fashion. Keepen ‘em outta the landfills and on people’s bodies!
