Kate in high waist and halter

by andrea on April 27, 2009

This outfit was remade from old clothes that were broken or stained. I just take the bad parts off and put on new fancy parts! The old button on the green corduroy pants came off, and I couldn’t just replace it because there was a big hole left in it’s place. I thought they were too low rise anyways, always giving me plumber’s butt, so I just took off the waistband and added a whole new higher waist with lots of shiny gold snaps. I also appliqued scraps from another fashion show I did onto the bottom hem of the pants. I like that technique because it reminds me of splashing in puddles, messing up your pants bottoms with colourful fabric. The shirt was a super old t-shirt (my husband got it second hand when he was 13 or so). It got a lot of wear and had some armpit stains that made it unwearable. I cut those off, cut a slit for the v-neck, and turned the neck band into a halter tie. The shirt features some sea creatures and reads “Frankly, Scallop, I don’t give a clam!” referencing Gone With the Wind. I love it, and don’t think I will ever be able to sell this one. Gotta keep it in the family.
