I loooove how this outfit came out. I made it out of a polyester apron I found at the thrift store. I used the shapes to guide my design. For example, The curved front pocket of the apron became a sweetheart neckline, and the curved lines of the shoulder straps were transformed into the pockets on my skirt. I wish there was a picture of the back of the shirt, it is one of my favorite features! I used the four ties of the apron to create an X shape on the upper back with a giant black spiral button holding them together. I will take my own amateur picture to post soon…
The cummerbund is another favorite piece of mine. It is satin on the inside and velvet on the outside, and the satin straps thread through each other at the back to tie in the front. I love using different textures of fabric in the same colour. The light hits each fabric in a different way to create a subtle contrast.
