Red and turquoise cotton print

by andrea on June 22, 2009

This dress is cute and girly with its ruffled skirt and puffy sleeves. I added some white details with a decorative frog closure in the front and some criss cross lacing and bows in the back v-neck. I love the print of this cotton fabric, and by putting it with the black knit, I think the print is just enough crazy. Sometimes I think about making a whole outfit out of a crazy loud print, just so I can see it, but I don’t think anyone would want to buy it afterwards. So I tone things down a bit with solid contrast fabrics. Also, the knit fabric in strategic places allows the dress to fit to the wearer. This is a trick I use often when I don’t know who will end up wearing what I’ve made.
